West Chester is a large township in southwestern Ohio. It is one of thirteen townships in Butler County. West Chester is 34 miles south of Dayton, Ohio and 23 miles north of Cincinnati. West Chester is in an area of Ohio that was home to Native American Indians. Surrounding West Chester is several ancient Native American mounds. In 1823, the West Chester Township was formed. Originally, the township was known as Union. In 2000, the name of the township was changed to West Chester.
